Many years ago I worked for an extended warranty company we administered the warranties for lots of car manufactures, and the claims for them too.

What you have not said is the fault on the car, not every fault/breakdown is covered by a mechanical breakdown insurance, and you should have been given a list of the items covered and the exclusions too in the booklet.

As I say you should have been given a warranty booklet, or ask for a copy of the booklet from the warrantly company to look up the information you need. The booklet is also important as it stipuated the terms you have to keep to in order to ensure that you do not invalidate the warranty, normally to do with service and milage restrictions.

I think you need to refer back to the original warranty booklet that you should have been supplied with the car and look at this.

What is the name of the warrantly company or the dealership by the way so I can see what company they use.

A used car warrantly covers far less than a new one, and the older or more miles on the clock the more restrictions on the warrantly.

& will possibly put your call through to them

If they think you have a case with the garage
they will then advise your best course of action

This is not going to be easy as it sounds as if you have no evidence to back up your claim. Why should the garage provide you with the evidence so you can use it against them?!! In particular it sounds as if your bought an insurance based warranty with the car – these warranties are usually limited in terms of what they will cover. You need to read the terms of the warranty very carefully.

Perhaps your first step should be a visit to your local Citizens Advice Bureau with any paperwork that you do have. They can advise you whether you have a case against the garage or the warranty company and explain the county court procedures to you.
