I run a garage with my wife and we deal with mostly germany vehicles. All too often people get the problem wrong. However it could be that both the items were broken or had issues and the two were affecting the issue. Its not uncommong for us to see vehicles with 3, 4 or 5 problems and the problem we have is which one is causing the problem the owner is complaining about. Simple things like noises from the drive train can be quite simple to track down. But all too often people rely on code readers. I.e. they plug a tool in and it says "something" about a throttle body, it doesnt mean its the throttle body, it could be the cabling, it could be the ecu controlling it or it could be something else which is making the ECU think its the throttle body. Are most poeple willing to pay a garage to tract the problem down? No So then its down to guess work for the majorty of garages. Its hit or miss I'm sorry to say.
